Pre-Treatments

OVERVIEW

An eight stage pre-treatment process is required prior to powdercoating onto steel or aluminium. This can include shotblasting, degreasing, rinsing, phosphating in either iron or zinc and finally seal coating.

ZINC PHOSPHATE

Pre-treating in zinc phosphate prior to powder-coating provides high levels of corrosion resistance and paint adhesion.

HCL ACID

Parts for galvanising are pre-treated in a mild solution of Hydrochloric acid, this is to remove all rust and mill scale leaving the surface chemically clean.

It is then rinsed in clean water prior to being immersed in a hot zinc ammonia chloride solution and at this stage the parts are ready to be immersed into the molten zinc.

We have a high quality system, galvanising to

BS EN 1461 quality standards.
